It’s cold outside

The changing of the season helps recharge snowpacks, inhibits waterborne algae growth and is celebrated by many cultures and traditions as a time to slow down, exchange gifts, appreciate family and friends as well as enjoy good spirits. When it comes to the North American water treatment industry though, cold weather brings a number of challenges and complications for people, processes and equipment.

First, do no harm

The importance of sanitary working practices cannot be over emphasized. Think carefully when cutting pipes, changing filters, repairing softeners or anything else in your daily work routine. Consider the potential pathways of contamination and take sensible countermeasures. The health and safety of your clients rest in your (hopefully clean) hands. Pay attention to hygiene, your clients are counting on you!

Hard to Lather – Easy to Fix

Hard water is called “Hard”, for a number of reasons…some say it’s because it is full of hard rock-like inorganic mineral compounds like calcium carbonate. Others call it hard because it’s hard on the wallet, plumbing, faucets, laundry, and appliances. I like to teach my team that it is hard to lather. Soft water is called soft because “soft” is the opposite of “hard” and it sounds better than “easy”.
