There are accounts of softeners prolonging a water heater’s life span as well as some anecdotal accounts of water softeners causing water heaters to fail sooner, so this really needs to be clarified/qualified. Let’s dig a little deeper into it…

Pharmaceuticals leaching into Groundwater
Pharmaceuticals and other contaminants from treated municipal wastewater can travel into shallow groundwater following their release to streams, according to a recent USGS study. The research was conducted at Fourmile Creek, a small, wastewater-dominated stream near Des Moines, Iowa.

WQA Expands Training Program for Water Treatment Sales Personnel
Responding to the water treatment industry’s clear need for greater technical sales-training offerings, the Water Quality Association (WQA) has added a new Sales Certificate to its Modular Education Program (MEP). The coursework builds upon the MEP’s Basics and Fundamentals programs to prepare water treatment sales professionals in diagnosing water issues and selecting treatment solutions.
