| First Educational Institution to Accredit Rainwater Harvesters Nationally |

The American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association (www.ARCSA.org, 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit) is the preeminent national educational and technical organization offering accreditation for rainwater-harvesting professionals. Today, ARCSA proudly announces its first partner in that effort – Santa Fe Community College (www.sfcc.edu) – whose 16-week course, “Active Water Harvesting and Distribution Systems” surpassed the curriculum requirements, including lessons on the latest design and installation standard – ARCSA/ASPE/ANSI Standard 63-2013. To formalize the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Interim SFCC President Randy Grissom and ARCSA’s President David Crawford.
ARCSA’s mission is to promote sustainable rainwater harvesting practices to help solve potable, non-potable, stormwater and energy challenges throughout the world. Santa Fe Community College is the first of what ARCSA hopes are many nationwide educational providers that will work with ARCSA toward common goals.
The straight-forward agreement requires no financial or administrative fees from Santa Fe Community College to ARCSA; students seeking accreditation will pay the appropriate fees and interact directly with ARCSA for membership, examination, administration and continuing education; those students will be required to purchase the current ARCSA manual for the open-book exam; and both organizations will benefit from broad recognition of their contributions to help solve the world’s growing water problems.
ARCSA is gathering funds, experts and technical writers to create a comprehensive new national rainwater-harvesting manual and is soliciting tax-deductible donations for that and general operational purposes.Donate online
