How Homespring Works
Filtered Water for Every Faucet in Your Home
Whether your home is supplied by ground water (well or cistern), surface water (lake or river) or municipal water (city or town); a Homespring Central Water Purifier will provide “Crystal clear water from every tap”.
The Homespring Central Water Purifier physically blocks out contaminants like bacteria, parasites and viruses as the water enters your home (please see certification and testing data for more information). This shift towards ‘point of entry’ water filtration ensures that your entire home is supplied with cleaner, safer and better tasting water.
The System consistently provides clean, filtered water for all of your cleaning, cooking, washing and drinking needs; while automatically flushing unwanted contaminants and particles down the drain.
GE’s Ultrafiltration Membrane
The Homespring Central Water Purifier uses thousands of GE’s ultrafiltration hollow fibre membrane strands. Each membrane strand contains billions of microscopic pores. Household water pressure pushes water molecules through these pores towards the hollow center of the membrane, while blocking out larger contaminants such as bacteria, parasites and viruses (please see certification and testing data for more information). Filtered water then flows through each fibre and is distributed to every household fixture.
Unwanted particles and micro-organisms are then flushed out of the System during the automatic cleaning cycle.
Pore Size
Due to the small pore size, particles that are too large to pass through are physically blocked out, while dissolved salts and essential minerals freely pass through.
The Homespring Central Water Purifier effectively blocks and removes particles larger than 0.02 microns nominal from your water supply.
Carbon Filter
The Homespring Central Water Purifier Prefilter removes large particles from source water to protect and extend the life of the system.
The filter can be used on municipal water sources to reduce unwanted tastes and odors associated with aesthetic chlorine. This Prefilter utilizes the surface area of small granules to bind and contain trace chemicals, keeping them from entering your water supply. One teaspoon of granular Activated Carbon has a surface area equivalent to that of a football field.
The stainless steel mesh filter can be used on water sources as a final guard for the Membrane Module against large particles. This reusable filter is used in installations where activated carbon is not required.

The Homespring Central Water Purifier must be installed by an authorized Homespring technician and properly maintained in accordance with the Homeowner’s Manual. Failure to properly maintain the system will compromise performance and/or result in a failure to control water quality, which may lead to delivering of contaminated water. Improvements to taste result when the system is used with the optional carbon filter. Water Safety: Please see the certification and independent laboratory results. Contaminants and pathogens may build-up in a house’s piping system and could shed into the water after it has been filtered through the Homespring Central Water Purifier. Follow manual instructions, including use of a sanitizer on the piping system to avoid contaminant build-up. Exposure to microorganisms may also occur during daily activities.

What is the approximate cost of replacing the Membrane system and what is the normal life of this system, in months, in a small industrial operation using municipal water and about 6 US GPM
There are two parts to the HomeSpring for municipal applications: Prefilter and UF Element. The prefilter should be changed at least once a year, and possibly more frequently than that depending on influent chlorine levels (higher chlorine levels = more frequent filter replacement). Many dealers will install a cartridge prefilter or even a self-backwashing one like this to make the HomeSpring prefilter last longer. List price on the Carbon prefilter is $150.00
If properly configured with an aggressive automatic backwash schedule, the UF element will last for years. Pentair warrants that it will last up to 5 years under normal use and has a pro-rated schedule for replacement cost if it fails sooner than that.
we have about 13 units in system and are looking to purchase filters such as the cabon and prefliters also looking to have a few replacement control units please get back to me so as the local dealer is not avalaible any more.

The only viable products on the marketplace to compare to the HomeSpring are those based on the Enpress ultrafilter array, like this one: http://crusaderwater.com/choose-a-system/ultrafiltration/
we have one of these and it’s getting more expensive to service and replace parts here in new zealand.
ive seen some places in the US are offering service to convert homespring systems to use other filters – is this something owners could do themselves? or better to just convert the whole thing to a different system? thanks!

With no hope for new manufacture, and the conversion kits looking unreliable, I strongly suggest replacing outright with a different system.
