Water treatment professionals who specialize in the repair of water quality improvement products can now earn special designations from the Water Quality Association (WQA). WQA announced today that it has made available training toward a new professional designation called Certified Service Technician (CST).

To earn the CST designation, candidates must complete the Service training curriculum in WQA’s Modular Education Program (MEP) and pass the necessary examination. The Service training curriculum focuses on troubleshooting a treatment system based on its application, obtaining the necessary water tests for analyses, and correcting equipment problems.
Professionals who achieve the CST or Certified Installer (CI) designation are then eligible to work toward Master Service Technician (MST) status. Candidates must complete the Advanced Service MEP coursework, pass the corresponding examinations, and demonstrate that they have five years’ active field work experience. All WQA-certified professionals must also agree to abide by the Association’s Code of Ethics for the Water Quality Improvement Industry.
