Are you a terrorist?

Brian Haas of the Tennessean broke a very interesting story about a “town-hall” discussion where concerned citizens and civic action groups met with legislators and TDEC employees. During the Q&A session, Sherwin Smith, deputy director of TDEC’s Division of Water Resources was apparently recorded to say “We take water quality very seriously. Very, very seriously… you need to make sure that when you make water quality complaints you have a basis, because federally, if there’s no water quality issues, that can be considered under Homeland Security an act of terrorism.”

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

This is a bittersweet post…I have decided to end my employment at Intermountain Water, and accept the position of Managing Director at Red Fox Advisors. I enjoyed my 18 years at Intermountain and wish them success in all their endeavors. To the employees, end-users, dealers, vendors, and resellers who supported me over the years: THANK YOU, I truly appreciate the business and your friendship!

Kleiner Wassersensor: Crowdsourced Water Quality Database

This would be a great project for Hach and the WQA to participate on together in the United States. Consumer awareness of water quality issues would increase, water quality improvement experts would have access to a relatively reliable baseline database of important raw water information and regulators/legislators would have much broader data to work with in making projections relating to water and environmental legislation.
